SANCCOB is a recognised world leader in seabird rehabilitation, doing
extensive research into avian malaria together with our partners including
organisations like the Baltimore Zoo.

Rehabilitating oiled penguins is successful. In a recent modelling exercise
done by the University of Cape Town's Percy FitzPatrick Institute of African
Ornithology, it was found that rehabilitating oiled African penguins has
resulted in the current population being 19% larger than it would have been
in the absence of rehabilitation efforts.
